Mom and Dad are in the Iron and Steel Business

Today I was talking with my mother who said she needed to go to work. Oh, work? She said, "Yes, you know Daddy and I are in the Iron and Steel Business. I had no clue what she was telling me. She said (with a little laugh), Robbie had never heard that before.....Me either, I've never heard it before. She said, "I'm ironing.......All day long I iron and then Daddy steals all night.......we are in the Iron and Steel (steal) business."
And she's not a garage nor is she a car!

I only need 15 more states and I will be successful in having a pen pal from every state in the US! Great, huh? Ash, do you like being Aunt Da's Pen Pal????

Oh it's Saturday, Oh it's Saturday, Yummy Yummy Yummy and a Cha Cha Cha

Apparently, I am the first of "our group" to blog today!!! This is exciting for me. I went to garage sales this morning with my buddy, Becky, from Oklahoma. It's 2000 degrees, so it was tons of fun. I have a headache! I got tons and tons of stuff, I bet I spent $20.00. For anyone who has never gone to garage sales in Mansfield and Arlington, you don't know what you're missing! Anyway, for those of you "in the know" Becky would be my "road dog." For those of you who don't know.......oops. Anyway, three times today, yes I said THREE, people called me Becky's MOTHER!!!! She is NOT that young (although she looks that young). I finally stomped my foot and said (in consternation), "I AM NOT HER MOTHER!!!!" Becky (dear, sweet, kind Becky, my friend) said, "Mom, settle down!" OH, YES SHE DID!!! I have got to find better friends! Then she bought a HUGE floral chair and she has no where to put it. I can't explain it, I was just along for the ride. I should have felt guilty for running around doing the garage sale thingy, knowing I need to write 20 letters!!! But, honestly, I didn't. Okay, Ash, spell check!

Dad can fix it

No matter what you have that is broken or messed up, you can take it to my parents' home and get it fixed. You can read Kasey's blog about Mother cleaning her light gray tennis shoes and ironing the wrinkles out of Gretchen and Robbie's clothes. But she didn't mention Dad! Dad has the answer for any kind of skin disorder.....if it itches or there's a rash or any such thing.....Dad will pull out his latest cream. It may be Horseman's Dream Cream or Aloe Vera, but it is the latest and greatest cream in the world and will fix what ails you. Suppose it isn't your skin...what if you have a handle coming off of a really cute Americana garbage can.......Dad to the rescue. He has his golf club glue that will fix anything. If it breaks again, you can be sure it will be in a different place than where he fixed. All of this works really well in our favor.....however, do NOT tell him that drinking enough water will not cure any and all diseases. He is certain it would even cure AIDS.....

Blogging

Well, here I am again. I really need to post something here because if I don't I will be scolded by my younger daughter. So, let's see....what shall I post tonight? How about I think I'm tired and want to go to bed? That sounds like a good idea to me. A quick family story before I call it a night. Nope, I have a better idea....how about a few more punch lines.....ya'll can fill in the blanks:
What typer writer?
If you don't shut up I'll stick a fork in your hand too!!!
He WILL talk to you BEFORE we leave Burger King, I bet you!!!
You shouldn't have DDT'd him!!!!
I'm just a tiny girl!

My next post will be whenever Kasey makes me post and it will be about whatever I want to type about.........

OK, SO I DIDN'T GET BACK WITH THE NEXT POST

I have been duly scolded by my younger child. She informed me that I cannot now, or ever, leave a comment like I did day before yesterday about what I was going to post yesterday and not do it. Well, I think I proved her wrong quite well......what do you think Ash?
[Side bar: How long are we all going to clear everything with Ash before we know it's spelled correctly??]
Anyway, all I said was there are more stories than the one about Aunt Sis. My grandchildren LOVE for Robbie and I to get together and tell old family stories. Levi was actually rolling on the floor laughing and yelling....."Stop it, I can't breathe, you're killing me!" We, of course, did not stop. If we are going to tell all the family stories, this blog will go well into the next century. But I do think one or two every now and then would be kind of nice.

Since I'm in a hurry, I will give you a few punch lines and you can fill in the rest:

Cozi Belvet....hehehe
Alright, Hello old devil.......hahaha
For me, you shouldn't have.....HAHAHAHA
If that would have been her name I'd a been in there.........hehehe Hahaha
Yes, it means attractive and lovely......HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I will WANT to be blind when I wake up?????? HEHEHEHEHEHE
When I finish puking you better be gone......HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Ok, I've done my part, someone else can fill in the blanks and I'll come up with some more.

Back at the Rig in Mansfield

Well, our vacation is over. Back to home #2 (the rig). Charlie (my brother-in-law) stayed here for us to have our mini-vacation and he did a good thing (good things) while we were gone. We had no clicker for the TV here. He took a universal remote we had bought and tried to make work and he made it work. He took a stop sign we found in a field and set it up on a pole so we can put it anywhere. It's so nice. He washed some clothes. I really think we should have stayed gone a few more days. hehehehe Thanks, Mabel!!!

Now, I'm writing my letters and I only have 2 left to write and I will be all caught up (doesn't happen often) BUT I have to go to Mabank and check our mail that didn't get checked this weekend because we were the wrong place to check it. So, I will be totally shocked and amazed if I don't have a bunch to answer after I check the mail (this will either happen tomorrow or Wednesday). I'll let you know how many I get AND if I get any new states. I'm only 18 states short to have a pen pal from every state in the Union.

I want to lose weight. I know, I've wanted to lose weight for a long, long time. But I seriously want to do something about it this time. I know that Weight Watcher's works, but the way I work and move around following the rig, I don't know if I could do that. I could do it at home off the internet, but I'm afraid I won't stick with it since no one will know how I'm really doing.

Also, and VERY important......I am a daughter short. G R E T C H E N ! ! ! ! ! Are you out there somewhere?????? If anyone sees or hears from my older daughter, tell her "E.T. phone home!" I will try to call her after I finish this. She really doesn't call like she used to. I miss her. Kasey has picked up her number of calls (Thanks, Kase) and Gretchen quit......hummmmm I can't seem to get them both calling at one time.

Tomorrow.....All the family stories aren't about Aunt Sis!!!

Sunday on Vacation

Well, today was another fun filled, exciting day on vacation. We went to Grandbury, Acton and Weatherford. We saw Jesse James grave (in Grandbury it is not believed that Garrett killed Jesse in 1882, he returned to Grandbury where he lived till he died, over 100 years of age). We saw the grave of Davey Crocketts wife and two of his children (in Acton). We heard a rumor (and bought a book) about John Wilkes Boothe and John St. Helen being the same person (it is assumed that he did not die in the burning tobacco shed in 1865, but came to Glen Rose and Grandbury and worked as a bartender until his death in 1876. Once again, learned a lot. In Weatherford we saw a really neat courthouse. took pictures. Oh, the most important part...I went to the Tourist Information Center in Grandbury and met Darlene McNeil, who gave me the directions and stuff about Jesse James, John Wilkes Boothe, Mrs. Davey Crockett and some stuff for my scrap book. Got her autograph, too.

VACATION

Well, this has really been interesting so far. I am on vacation in Glen Rose, TX. We came to see the tractor show and pull!!! Who said I wasn't versitile?? Anyway, it's been different. We made a few miles yesterday......Fossil Rim is where they have a drive through zoo of wild animals. Don't get out of your car, but you can feed them. We couldn't go through because Chloe (our Lhasa Apses) was with us.....Absolutely NO pets. We walked around a little (in 103 degree temp) and went through the gift shop (where I got a pen that won't write) and left. It's in the hills, neat. We went to Hico, TX and learned a lot about Billy the Kid that we didn't know. Didn't know Hico had any claim to fame with B the K, but look what a trip can do. Saw the museum and everything. It really was interesting. At lunch at the Koffee Kup on the way to Stephenville, TX (which is where they have seen all the UFO sightings). Did a little shopping in the shops, but we didn't see any UFOs. Having a great time, actually......who knew I would enjoy this kind of stuff.......ESPECIALLY in this kind of HEAT!!!!!!

Computers are not always my friend

My computer (I love Vista!!!) is giving me fits. It just closes and restarts my online connection when it gets the urge. It doesn't like for me to X out a page, it kills me when I try that, too. Now it has started doing it with Word!! What a bonus!

I got an email from a woman in North Dakota (I need a pen pal from ND). She thought I wanted to have an email pen pal. I'm soooo misunderstood. I emailed her back to see if she'll write REAL letters......hummmm. I should have stayed in bed today.

50 Pen Pals from 50 States

I've been trying to get 50 pen pals, one from each state. I started this endeavor in March 2008. Here it is July 2008 and I have 32 states already gotten. I think, duh, that's more than half. I have not gotten: Vermont, Massachusetts, Delaware, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, North Dakota, South Dakota, Alaska, Hawaii, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Indiana, Nevada, Colorado, and New Jersey. Anyone from those states needing a pen pal, let me know.
