Family Blog

My first cousin, Wendell Lowell Wyatt, affectionately known as Bubba to all of us, all his life, passed away at 1:30 a.m. on March 3, 2011. His funeral was Saturday, March 5th in Crowley, Louisiana. He was buried in Maxie Cemetery along with my grandparents from both sides, his mother, his brother, his baby, and numerous other relatives. There is so much family history out there in Maxie, I could never tell it all. I would like to say that Bubba has always been a precious friend, as well as cousin. It was hard not to love him. The funeral was loaded with so many flowers they were even up and down the halls at the church, there were just too many to fit in the sanctuary with the casket. The church was full. Everyone had wonderful memories and many tears at the very sad "homegoing party." I know we will all miss him terribly. I doubt seriously if he would come back from where he has gone. He is healthy, happy and in the company of the best of the best. I'll love him always.

Good Mail Day

Well, I have to tell you that I have been enjoying the goodmailday.com site so much. I have found pen pals and mail art pals, I've gotten post cards, met wonderful friends and even expanded my own abilities. I've learned a lot about artsy things and I'm having a ball. That is the object of the entire exercise, isn't it? Anyway, I'm hoping that "Good Mail Day II" will be written and be even 1/2 as much fun as Good Mail Day. It's so funny how something can show up in your life and give you a boost of fun. I still have my pet rock... Anyway, anyone that hasn't checked out goodmailday.com yet really should.

Pen Friends and Mail Art

Good morning world. I have found a website that I really, really enjoy. I cannot tell you how nice it is to learn that I am not the only one that does things like this. It has given me a "home" with "relatives" to play with:
http://goodmailday.wordpress.com/2010/05/28/call-for-scribblers-mail-artists-and-pen-friends/
I am very taken in by the posts that I have found there. I will no doubt be visiting there again and often.
In case that wasn't enough to thrill me, I also found: www.lettersandjournals.com
I have to tell you I will be going there frequently also. I am really enjoying my corresponding and mail art. It seems to have blossomed and come alive within the last month. THIS IS ME HAPPY!

IT'S BEEN FOREVER, WHERE HAVE I BEEN?

Okay, granted, I don't ever finish what I begin, but I must say this has really been ignored for a long, long, long, long time. I've been asked why I dropped the ball (thanks for noticing, Scotch). Well, I don't know. I will say I have gotten to within one state of having a pen pal from each state. Do people in Delaware know how to write? I have made some wonderful friends and I have learned some interesting things that I would never have known. For instance, where else could I have learned about ATCs? Not only do I know what they are now, but I have actually made some. I have learned a lot about mail art, FBs, post card collectors, people that journal (a lot), and even people that write as someone else...I am so much smarter that I might quit asking Ash for advice. I have gotten to the point that I don't care if I spell everything correctly, nor do I care if my punctuation and word usage is politically correct. I still have lots of family stories that need to be told in a place where they can be read by family. Some of the stories are funny, some are sad and some are just family history. I've been referred to by a first cousin (Judy Richard) as the family historian... I wonder, is that good or bad?
I'll try to post more stories soon and often.
Good day...
