Family Blog

My first cousin, Wendell Lowell Wyatt, affectionately known as Bubba to all of us, all his life, passed away at 1:30 a.m. on March 3, 2011. His funeral was Saturday, March 5th in Crowley, Louisiana. He was buried in Maxie Cemetery along with my grandparents from both sides, his mother, his brother, his baby, and numerous other relatives. There is so much family history out there in Maxie, I could never tell it all. I would like to say that Bubba has always been a precious friend, as well as cousin. It was hard not to love him. The funeral was loaded with so many flowers they were even up and down the halls at the church, there were just too many to fit in the sanctuary with the casket. The church was full. Everyone had wonderful memories and many tears at the very sad "homegoing party." I know we will all miss him terribly. I doubt seriously if he would come back from where he has gone. He is healthy, happy and in the company of the best of the best. I'll love him always.

Good Mail Day

Well, I have to tell you that I have been enjoying the goodmailday.com site so much. I have found pen pals and mail art pals, I've gotten post cards, met wonderful friends and even expanded my own abilities. I've learned a lot about artsy things and I'm having a ball. That is the object of the entire exercise, isn't it? Anyway, I'm hoping that "Good Mail Day II" will be written and be even 1/2 as much fun as Good Mail Day. It's so funny how something can show up in your life and give you a boost of fun. I still have my pet rock... Anyway, anyone that hasn't checked out goodmailday.com yet really should.

Pen Friends and Mail Art

Good morning world. I have found a website that I really, really enjoy. I cannot tell you how nice it is to learn that I am not the only one that does things like this. It has given me a "home" with "relatives" to play with:
http://goodmailday.wordpress.com/2010/05/28/call-for-scribblers-mail-artists-and-pen-friends/
I am very taken in by the posts that I have found there. I will no doubt be visiting there again and often.
In case that wasn't enough to thrill me, I also found: www.lettersandjournals.com
I have to tell you I will be going there frequently also. I am really enjoying my corresponding and mail art. It seems to have blossomed and come alive within the last month. THIS IS ME HAPPY!

IT'S BEEN FOREVER, WHERE HAVE I BEEN?

Okay, granted, I don't ever finish what I begin, but I must say this has really been ignored for a long, long, long, long time. I've been asked why I dropped the ball (thanks for noticing, Scotch). Well, I don't know. I will say I have gotten to within one state of having a pen pal from each state. Do people in Delaware know how to write? I have made some wonderful friends and I have learned some interesting things that I would never have known. For instance, where else could I have learned about ATCs? Not only do I know what they are now, but I have actually made some. I have learned a lot about mail art, FBs, post card collectors, people that journal (a lot), and even people that write as someone else...I am so much smarter that I might quit asking Ash for advice. I have gotten to the point that I don't care if I spell everything correctly, nor do I care if my punctuation and word usage is politically correct. I still have lots of family stories that need to be told in a place where they can be read by family. Some of the stories are funny, some are sad and some are just family history. I've been referred to by a first cousin (Judy Richard) as the family historian... I wonder, is that good or bad?
I'll try to post more stories soon and often.
Good day...

The Family Blog

OK, did I misunderstand? Were we all supposed to blog every day and that way keep up with each other's lives?? Well, it isn't working. I'm a nervous wreck wondering what will be in the mail from Ash when we get our mail Sunday. I've been so very sweet to her and now she's going to give me trouble. I can't believe it! We need more family stories. Robbie you need to tell the one about "for me, you shouldn't have." Kasey you need to tell people why you're sooooo anal about splinters. Gretchen, you need to tell how a cigarette appeared in your room when I was out. Ash, you need to write a sincere apology for giving your precious Aunt Da grief. Scotch needs to tell how to "update" my virus stuff. And finally, last, but not least, Brandon and Denise need to post pictures of Denise :) I need to update the calendar. I don't have time. I have to write letters and do some more scrap booking. I'll try to get it done before the end of the year. I have nothing to say...I need new blogs to read. So, get with the program.

Mom and Dad are in the Iron and Steel Business

Today I was talking with my mother who said she needed to go to work. Oh, work? She said, "Yes, you know Daddy and I are in the Iron and Steel Business. I had no clue what she was telling me. She said (with a little laugh), Robbie had never heard that before.....Me either, I've never heard it before. She said, "I'm ironing.......All day long I iron and then Daddy steals all night.......we are in the Iron and Steel (steal) business."
And she's not a garage nor is she a car!

I only need 15 more states and I will be successful in having a pen pal from every state in the US! Great, huh? Ash, do you like being Aunt Da's Pen Pal????

Oh it's Saturday, Oh it's Saturday, Yummy Yummy Yummy and a Cha Cha Cha

Apparently, I am the first of "our group" to blog today!!! This is exciting for me. I went to garage sales this morning with my buddy, Becky, from Oklahoma. It's 2000 degrees, so it was tons of fun. I have a headache! I got tons and tons of stuff, I bet I spent $20.00. For anyone who has never gone to garage sales in Mansfield and Arlington, you don't know what you're missing! Anyway, for those of you "in the know" Becky would be my "road dog." For those of you who don't know.......oops. Anyway, three times today, yes I said THREE, people called me Becky's MOTHER!!!! She is NOT that young (although she looks that young). I finally stomped my foot and said (in consternation), "I AM NOT HER MOTHER!!!!" Becky (dear, sweet, kind Becky, my friend) said, "Mom, settle down!" OH, YES SHE DID!!! I have got to find better friends! Then she bought a HUGE floral chair and she has no where to put it. I can't explain it, I was just along for the ride. I should have felt guilty for running around doing the garage sale thingy, knowing I need to write 20 letters!!! But, honestly, I didn't. Okay, Ash, spell check!
